Optimising WordPress

Somehow, this afternoon I got slightly sidetracked.

I first of all discovered Google Pagespeed, which is a great plugin for Firebug that helps developers optimise their websites. That led me to trying it out on this very page and shock horror, the old lpb bloggyblog wasn’t very optimised. So, a further Google led me onto W3 Total Cache. This is a fantastically indepth solution for those of us using WordPress who’d like to have a slightly speedier beast running, particularly handy if you’ve got a high-traffic site (which, i hate to say, this isn’t!).

There’s little more I can say about it that they don’t on their own page, but seriously worth checking it out if you’re running a WordPress site.

I write like…

Thanks to a post over at Mighty God King, I’ve been tipped off to an interesting little writing analyser. So I plugged a bit of my (prose) writing into it and hey-presto!

I write like
James Joyce

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Not too shabby eh?

Incase you don’t know James Joyce, he’s quite a famous 20th century writer. I suggest you check out the Wikipedia entry for him and maybe even read one or two of his books!

Out of interest I then fed the analyser one of my blog posts and it told me that i write like…

I write like
Harry Harrison

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Which I’m also very happy about!

And again, should you not know who Harry Harrison is, I suggest you browse his Wikipedia entry and then go and read one of his books!

Of course, you could always give it a go yourself as well… http://iwl.me/
